The NIMS' Clinical Microbiology unit offers a wide range of tests designed to swiftly identify the causative agents of infectious diseases and fast reporting of results. Our laboratory is equipped to conduct culture techniques, immunoassays, quick detection, and identification of common as well as unusual microbial pathogens. The lab also offers Serologic testing for confirmation of infections by detecting the presence of specific antibody responses.

The department is a consolidated Infectious Disease Serology Laboratory (bacterial and viral infections), and overseas infection control activities of the hospital.
Equipped to conduct whole range of organism identification and susceptibility testing for bacteria, mycobacteria, and fungi.
Effective detection of hepatitis B virus.
Expertise in bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, virology (including HIV and hepatitis viruses), and infectious disease serology.
Immunoassays for the diagnosis of Rota virus antigens in stool.
The Biochemistry department is an advanced laboratory.
