On the day of arrival you have the first consultation with one of our doctors. Following comprehensive evaluation, the doctor will develop an individualized treatment program. There are daily yoga and mediation programs to complement.

Described below are our general Ayurvedic therapies. Please note that the following explanations are of a general nature. Ultimately, it is the doctors who after the consultation decide which treatment and approaches are most suitable for each individual.


ElaKizhi ( Oil based Herbal body massage )

Finely chopped or ground fresh herbal leaves are placed in cotton bags, which are immersed in warm medicated oil and used for the fomentation massage. The massage covers the entire body, neck, shoulders, hand and back. It enhances circulation within the affected area, thereby promoting increased perspiration that helps the skin to eliminate wastes. The massage is quite a relaxing experience.
This treatment is applied for 45 minutes daily for a period of 7-14 days.

Pizhichil ( Therapeutic whole body herbal oil massage )

This is among the rare and special treatments for rejuvenating the whole body. In this treatment, the prescribed, warm medicated oils are continuously applied to the whole body by a team of therapists working in synchrony. The treatment takes 60-90 minutes and is applied daily for 7 to 21 days. Pizhichil, also known as oil bath treatment, is carried out on a special massage table carved out of a single piece of wood from a Strychnine tree.

Navarakizhi

In this treatment, sweating is induced by massaging the body with warm, linen bags (bundles) filled with cooked Navara Rice, which is cooked in cow's milk and a specific herbal mixture. After wiping the body with a dry towel, the medicated oil is again applied. The. This treatment is carried out by 2-4 masseurs for 60-90 minutes daily over a period of 14 - 21 days.
Navarakizhi is effective against rheumatism, joint pain, high blood pressure.

Sirodhara

"Siro" means "head" and "dhara" is the continuous flow of liquid. In this treatment, the patient lies on a wooden bed in a comfortable position and is offered a liberal application of medicated oils. For the process, a specially designed apparatus is filled with the medicated oil and placed at a specific height. The masseur ensures continlus flow by swinging the apparatus back and forth above the forehead. The head is then dried and the cycle is repeated. Sirodhara helps in rejuvenation and revitalization. It's great for stress reduction, muscular relaxation, and for diminishing the effect of ageing. This is a special massage therapy for stress and strain.

Aavisnanam (Medicated Steam Bath)

This involves steam bath in a chamber filled with herbal infusion. The bath opens up skin pores, flushes out accumulated dirt from the body and reduces subcutaneous fat. The steam bath offers effective skin cleansing.

Vasthi

This is also known as medicinal enema. Vasthi is a curative therapy that uses medicated oils, and herbal extracts. Vasthi is good for arthritis, hemiplegia, numbness of the limbs, gastritic complaints, rheumatism and chronic constipation. The average treatment period is 5 – 20 days, depending on the condition of the patient.

Ksheeradhoomam ( Medicated steam application )

This is a special treatment in which herbal medicines and cow's milk are mixed, heated, and applied as steam via a tube to the whole body or the affected parts. This is effective against facial palsy other nervous disorders.

Sirovasthi

(Therapy by retaining medicated oil on the head). A cap made of palm shearing is placed on the head retained for sometime.. Lukewarm medicated oils are poured into the cap and Special warm herbal oils are poured into a hat fastened to the head and allowed to act for 15-60 minutes daily – depending on the patient's condition – for a period of 7 days.

Udvardhanam - (Herbal body massage)

In this treatment, special herbal powders are applied to the body by a small team of therapist in a synchronized massage for 30-45 minutes daily for a period of 14-28 days. This offers excellent toning effect to the body; and also aids in obesity control, enhanced mobility of joints, and muscle strengthening.

Sarvanga Abhyangam ( Intensive oil application & massaging )

This involves application of medicated oils by a special process. This is an intensive massage in which the direction of massage is focused on blood circulation. Each session lasts 45 minutes and is carried out for a period of 14 days. Abyangam has been found to be effective in improving vision, sleep, rheumatism, vitality and skin health. It rejuvenates the body and contributes to the physique.

Thalapothichil ( Herbal head wrapping )

In this therapy, a paste of selected medicinal herbs are applied onto the scalp and left for 30-45 minutes. Herbal oil is then applied on the head and massaged. A special cloth is wrapped around the head. and there after the herbal paste is applied with uniform thickness all over the head. After 45 minutes the paste is removed and the head is wiped clean. This treatment is very good in the case of hair loss, dandruff, grain, insomnia, and chronic sinusitis.

Nasyam- ( Nasal application of herbal oils and juices )

This is one of the five Panchakarma treatments, Nasyam is a therapy in which herbal juices, medicinal oils etc. are poured into the nostrils for the patient to inhale. It is done daily for a period of 14 days. The patients body is massaged to cause it to sweat. This is quite effective to treat sinusitis, migraine, chronic cold, and chest congestion.
